HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KERRI!

Happy birthday to our co-founder and the one who won the most hardworking scanlator award in the highlanders’ team XD
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KERRI!

Hidamari Sketch v03c37

My first day in Japan is spent catching up on the sleep I didn’t manage to get on the night flight. >.<

And yes, thanks for the fabulous editor, Ken’Oh, we have chapter 37. No, I’m not hiding Natsume. I’m just too busy hunting for eyecandy in the streets of Japan to bug the editors. XD

*edit: updated mediafire link. blame jetlag. =X

Hidamari Sketch v03c36

Many thanks to Ken’Oh, who has been revived from the realm of study-for-exams. XD

This was late in the coming. Enuff said.

HS v03c35:

First release on the first day of the week (depending on how you view the calendar). Yet another typeset-crazy day, with the same predictable headache.

If you happen to be a translation maniac and compare the original Japanese version with these English scanlations, you’ll have lots to harp about the afterword. Though every attempt was made to keep the translations as accurate as possible. Sometimes I think Japanese like to string their clauses together into one sentence and laugh at the readers while they try and decode which clause linked with which and whether they actually had a link to each other.

If you can’t already tell, I’m upset that my chance to go Japan for free is floating away into the distance because of the flu outbreak in Oosaka. T.T

I seriously should stop mixing RL with scanlation.

Natsume Yuujinchou v03c12: Torrent | Mediafire| Sendspace|

Two releases in a week. Remind me never to attempt to typeset nearly 50 pages in one day again. =.=

Some notes about this chapter and Natsume in general:

Natsume chapters are infinitely longer than Hidamari Sketch, and that much more brain-draining. Of course, the fact that there is furigana for Natsume does make it easier, but it doesn’t help when I attempt to translate a chapter a day. That much said, it is in fact quite thought-provoking (which is why I love this series so much) and deserves a proper HQ release (or as high as I can manage it).

Though previous scanlations by other groups have replaced “ayakashi” with english words like “spirits” (too mild) and “monsters” (too strong), I thought it’d be best to leave it in. In Natsume, “Youkai” seems to be used interchangeably with “ayakashi”, since they do share one of their kanji (Chinese character). We will be following the author’s use of the words without change.

This chapter was made possible by luna’s offer of help with cleaning. Without her, I would have been stuck on square one for a much longer time while trying to get around to cleaning (I know how to do it, but I don’t like to). Though we could also use a proper typesetter so that I can focus on translating instead of attempting to spend equal time on both.

Hmm. I grabbed the raws for this off tokyotosho, but it’ll be great if the person who uploaded it can give a name? If not I don’t know who to credit for this… But anyways, thanks to that person for uploading the raws, if not this project wouldn’t have been possible.

And yes, I know that I like to ramble. It’s only for the first chapter, so bear with it.

Hidamari Sketch Doujin

The long-awaited doujin is finally here~

DL: Mediafire| Torrent| Sendspace|

It’s been a long while in the production. RL takes priority for everyone, and the regular chapters were taking precedence over this, so it was set on the shelf for a long looooong while.

So yup. In case you haven’t notice, the editors for the regular chapters are busy, and I was freshly bored out of the exam hall, so I decided to finish up the doujin once and for all so that it stops hanging over my head like a buzzing irritating mosquito.

Haha. Anyways, Natsume is taking priority now (because the cleaner is actually active, which makes me feel like translating and typesetting). Yup. Please volunteer your services for editing (or cleaning and typesetting) if you feel like reading more Hidamari Sketch.

Edit: Updated mediafire link.

While waiting for scans of volume 4 to come in, I decided to finally do something productive, like having a batch release.

Volume 2: Torrent| Mediafire| Sendspace|

And I’d like to announce a new project, Natsume Yuujinchou. I know that another group (person?) is doing it, but my hands just itch like crazy when I see this manga. We’ll be starting from chapter 11 (volume 3), so watch out for that soon.

In the meantime, I’d like to stress the call for EDITORS because it’s difficult for me to do both translations and editing and still live in RL.  I have 6 chapters of HS waiting for editors because the current editors are busy and I need to focus on my exams. T.T Editors can choose either to do HS or Natsume or both. Email kerri DOT chan AT gmail DOT com if you’re interested.

Updates.

If anyone had been keeping track of the Progress Page, you’d notice the sudden spate of translated chapters. That’s me taking breaks from cramming for exams, if anyone cares.

In any case, if you want to have earlier releases, join us as an EDITOR, because obviously we need YOU.

On the other note, I recently found these on Tokyotosho. Is anyone interested in working on this project? Both editors and translators are welcome. Please email me at kerri DOT chan AT gmail DOT com.
